The Orchard School

Located on the sloping hill of a former apple orchard, the nationally acclaimed Orchard School embodies both the comfort of nurturing care and the promise of new opportunities. Over one hundred students in grades K through 9 attend the Orchard School.  Most of our students are referred to Andrus by their local school districts. Residential and day students are educated together in a nurturing environment designed to bolster both academic achievement and behavioral health.

Residential Program Highlight: Recreation

Our on-campus Residential Recreation Program is supported by the Assessment, Plan, Implementation, and Evaluation (APIE) framework. The APIE framework organizes the development of child-specific recreational goals and aspirations. Each child in residence develops recreational goals based on physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual domains.

Residential Program Highlight: Hope Space Therapeutic Farm

Our on-campus Hope Space Therapeutic Farm is home to alpacas, goats, sheep, chickens, honey bees, and more. Our children have the opportunity to work with, care for, and socialize with all of these animals throughout the Hope Space. This level of interaction is often calming and encourages stable emotions for our children.
