What We Do

Brief introductions to the life-changing services Andrus delivers to help children and families.

Our historic 110-acre Yonkers campus is a beautiful, safe environment offering wide-ranging services for children and families, including our award-winning Orchard School, a residential treatment program, our Sanctuary Institute teaching trauma-informed care, and other clinical services to help children…

Over one hundred students in grades K through 9 attend The Orchard School.  Most of our students are referred to Andrus by their local school districts. Residential and day students are educated together in a nurturing environment designed to bolster both academic achievement and behavioral health.

Our residential program serves 80 children between the ages of 5–16 who live in one of five cottages on our 110-acre campus. Our diverse resident population is composed of children and families from Long Island to Albany and beyond, and from a broad range of racial and socio-economic backgrounds.

Andrus service offerings expand beyond our campus and into the community. Our home-based and clinical family support to residents in surrounding areas continues to grow, including prevention, intervention, and educational services for families throughout southern Westchester County.

Our programs aim to ensure that children, individuals and families can grow happy, health, and strong. We provide individual child and family intervention supporting parents and caregivers to build on their unique strengths while managing their challenges. Services are available to adults, families, and children ranging from birth through adolescence.
The Sanctuary Institute provides training and consultation services to other organizations that work with vulnerable adults, children and families, to help agency leaders develop a culture of hope and innovation. This deep transformational process rewards participants with powerful and measurable organizational change.
